Another missed camera moment - Sunday, August 23, 2009 11:22 AM ( #1 )
Once again I wish I had a camera with me. Seen a whitetail last night on the way to the bar. There was 5 bucks in the group. 3 smaller ones, A nice one, about 115 range, and one that looked like he had a 2'x2' box on his head. They were on the beartooth ranch which used to be owned by Mel Gibson. Just a little trivia tossed in there.

Niiiice!  Does Uncle Mel allow hunting?  Sounds like he needs some herd thinning!
Love playing that string music and sending a Muzzy flying!

Mel don't own it now. He did allow hunting. The new owner doesn't. Tons of deer on the property. Muley and whitetail. Last year there was a nice muley with a 9" droptine. Havn't seen him yet.

Try to get permission on the surrounding property.  Deer don't know the difference between one property line or the other.  As you already know they travel at will, especially during the rut.

Take care and Good Hunting!

Best Afield,

Steve

The only huntable property that borders it is a state section that is 5 miles away from the deer and is up on a high flat. Not a tree in sight. No whitetails. Few muley. Then there is about 5 acres at the boat landing. Not a very good spot.

For only $350K I can buy the house for sale right next to the field, But they don't allow hunting either.
