Another One Bites The Dust! - Thursday, May 14, 2009 4:43 PM ( #1 )
I took Centurian62 out this morning and we had so many birds gobbling around us at daylight we couldn't count them.  Four jakes flew down in our lap and he passed on them.  A couple hours later we were running and gunning and got this one to answer, but he wouldn't come in.  We closed the distance and got within his comfort zone, he came in and got wacked at 28 yards!  This was his first longbeard after getting a jake two years ago with me.

Mike,

Well done, congrats. Might have to take a trip up there and stop by to visit you. My daughter lives in South Central Michigan, I can stop by and give her a peck on the check and then give the turkey's several pecks with some shot...hehehe.

Congrats on the great hunt!!  Sometimes when the birds don't cooperate...you have to play their game and run and gun.  Whatever method it takes to get them on the ground is a good one.
Love playing that string music and sending a Muzzy flying!

Topgun did a fantastic job with this bird, as always!  I think he's gonna have to start charging for his guide service, but I'm hoping to get "grand-fathered" in!!  Maybe if I bribe him with a case of Pepsi he'll just look the other way! LOL!!!

I just hope that one's Daddy is out there because I'm making one last try tomorrow morming right where we got him!  Then it's mow grass and finish with odd jobs for a couple days before heading up early Saturday morning to meet Steve at the floatplane base.  The weather for next week up there looks fantastic and I'm getting excited!!!

A town called Tipton. Supposed to be South cental MI. About 45 min from Detroit and 45 mins from Ann Arbor depending on which direction you travel.

Tipton is way over in the southeast corner of the state and is not that far from Toledo.

Congrats on the bird top. We should be seeing something a bit bigger from you here in the new couple of weeks also. "BIG and BLACK". I know you guys will have a great time up there. Be safe my brother. Congrats again on the bird. 2 more days.

Thanks Gary!  Monty sent me an email and said not to worry because he has hauled in Pepsi for me, so things are looking good, LOL!!!  I'll take plenty of pictures of the trip and I'm sure Steve will have another great daily diary of the goings on!
