Another Bow season ends - Saturday, January 15, 2011 11:01 PM ( #1 )
Well the archery deer and turkey season is now officially closed for this year. Things didn't go as I had hoped, however I still had a great season. No bucks and as usual I let too many deer walk. Was going to fill the freezer early then concentrate on big bucks, wrong. I just have a really hard time convincing myself to shoot does. Especially after I have seen some really nice bucks on the property. So as usual I end up with one deer for the year instead of filling the 3 tags I had planned on. Drew on plenty and talked myself out of letting the arrow fly like 5 times this year. I just really enjoy the opportunity to spend time in the woods, and watching all that our good Lord has put here for us to enjoy and use. Guess maybe I've shot my fair share of game and now it's time to really sit back and enjoy the whole experience. Besides there's always next year and they will be bigger too.LOL

And that Sir is what it's all about!  I could have written your post myself because I have as good or better of a time nowadays it seems when I don't even have a license.  Take that big bull my buddy shot with me by his side this year.  It was awesome and was just as good as if I had pulled the trigger!

Yeah, Sometimes it's better to just enjoy the environment and not have to spend the half the night tracking and dragging and taking care of it when you get home.

The only problem with being there when that bull went down was that it took a day and a half packing that rascal out to the truck.  That was by far the hardest work I've ever put in on a hunting adventure and you know what?   I'd do it again tomorrow, LOL!!!
