Nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. Thanks dipstick, we don't have enough going against us without somebody doing something stupid to get the anti's attention. If you can't shoot get rid of the junk and try checkers or shuffleboard. Or maybe a little range time would help.

RE: Abolish Bowhunting!?! - Tuesday, April 28, 2009 2:16 PM ( #25 )
Well things have gotten pretty interesting over at the "Abolish Bowhunting" web site.

I've posted a few posts on the petition itself so that people will know that bowhunters will not take this crap lying down.  At first I wasn't going to post on the petition, but then I thought why not show them all that we are seriously against this protest and petition?  So, I signed up for several free E mail addresses at hotmail.com and started posting my opinions on the petition.

Here's what you can do:  Go to hotmail.com and get a free E mail address such as thebowhunter@live.com or outdoorguy3434@live.com and then you can post your opinions on the petition if you feel that you would like to let them all know where you stand.  Also, if you don't want to use your real name you can make up a fake name like I did.  I used Pete Stephens and Bow Hunter.  You can also make up any city and address you want as well -- a little devious and diabolical I know, but you have to fight fire with fire.

Be tactful and refrain from using any foul language, but if you'd like, let them know we mean business and won't take this crap lying down.  In other words, educate the uneducated.

What will they do with a petition filled with a bunch of opposing opinions from bowhunters?  My guess would be not much.  LOL!

Take care and Good Hunting!

Best Afield,

Steve

My guess also Steve, but hey, it gives us a chance to air our opinions and get it off of our chests. My guess also is that money talks and bs walks, which is what we may be up against.

That site has finally blocked me from further postings.  LOL!!

However, here are some FACTS, not contrived anti-hunting FICTION that someone may want to post:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates there are approximately 1.5 million auto-deer collisions per year, resulting in damage losses of around $1.5 billion USD, which works out to an average cost of $1,000 per accident.  State Farm Insurance Agency also supports these statistics, and goes on to report that, in the year 2004, there were 150 human deaths in the United States that were directly linked to car-deer accidents.

The bear is often considered to be one of the most dangerous animals in North America.  As a combined group, polar bears, black bears, and grizzly bears are responsible for 5 to 10 human fatalities per year in North America.  Comparing this statistic with the 150 human deaths caused in 2004 by auto-deer collisions, one might come to the conclusion that the most dangerous animal in North America is, in fact, the White Tail Deer.

An insurance study conducted by State Farm Insurance in 2004 and 2005 indicates the ten states with the most deer hits per year are as follows:

1. Pennsylvania
2. Michigan
3. Illinois
4. Ohio
5. Georgia
6. Minnesota
7. Virginia
8. Indiana
9. Texas
10. Wisconsin

Statistically, most car-deer accidents occur between the months of October and December, which also coincides with the deer's mating season.  It has also been noted that more accidents occur during the night, or anytime between dusk and dawn.  This is attributed to the fact that deer are a very nocturnal animal and spend most of their time foraging at night.

Steve, appreciate ya defending us, but doubt seriously if you could do ANYTHING to change her mind.

I hear what you're saying to a certain degree, and I partially agree.

Maybe we can't change her particular mind, but if we all work together by providing insightful, compelling and thought-provoking information in a non-threatening manner we may be able to change the minds of those who are yet undecided, and that is where our fight exists!

I seriously doubt that we will EVER change the minds of the radically incompetent, but we may be able to win the war in the end.  I know one thing; I just can't sit back and watch them insult, degrade and abominate the way of life that I would personally die for.

Just my $.02

Steve,
Yessir, and I salute you for it. Hopefully some of the less radical will heed your words.

Steve,
One thing to note also in ref to the timeframe. That is usually when all of the row crops have also been harvested and the deer are having to travel diff. paths to find food.

I find it funny that they blocked you when all you were doing was stating facts in a tactful and truthful manner.  It just floors me.
