A Sad Day - Friday, January 08, 2010 9:43 PM ( #1 )
Well,
I went out tonight to change out the cards in my cams and get ready for this weekends BP hunt and to my surprise, I had a dead buck laying in my foodplot. It was a tiny yearling 6pt. Not even 6in wide or tall. I looked him over a bit and did not see any holes, so the only thing I can figure is he was gotten by yote's. The a$$ and hips were all that were ate out. He was laying about 20ft from my ground blind. Never know what he could have been now. On a brighter side, I do have this young one still running around. Not bad for a 2yr old.

Then I have what looks to be an older than dirt buck. He is missing his right main beam and looks like his left is almost completely broke off. He also looks real sickly with the bald spots and all the scars all over his body.

Always hate to see a deer caught by the yotes, but they gotta eat too.  Found a few carcasses last year while turkey hunting.  Good luck this weekend with the smoke pole hunt!  Our season in NC is done.
Love playing that string music and sending a Muzzy flying!

Yeah, either he has some kind of deer mange or got a serious butt wooping during the rut. Funny, you can see that much skin through his hair.
