I hafta wonder if he wuz arrogant enuf to think a fence wouldn't stop him, merely becuz he's old enuf to have a rack that big and heavy ...

Sickening isn't it? I saw that on another site and I believe it was a cemetery fence out near Capser, Wyoming. The last picture looks like he is still alive!

Doesn't look like it would have been a quick death either. Not very high or wide but lots of mass and nontypical points. Probably on the down slide. Maybe he was just getting too old to jump that fence anymore. He looked pretty healthy though. Too bad.

That's really too bad; I hate to see something like that happen to such a magnificent animal. I'll never forget seeing 3 does running full bore clear a 9 to 10 foot chain link fence back in my hometown of Wisconsin. They rattled the top section of the fence when they went over, but made it over nonetheless, and unscathed. I would imagine if someone would have had a camera pointed at my face when that happened you all would be seeing a picture of me with my jaw hanging flat on the ground! It was something to see, I'll never forget it as long as I live. Talk about HIGH jumpers! Holy Hanna! Take care and Good Hunting! Best Afield, Steve

I followed a set of cougar tracks chasing a deer in mud. They were going down hill and from where one set of tracks were to the next they were jumping over 15 ft. tall pinon pines and landing about 30 foot from where they jumped. The cat was keeping stride for stride with the deer. Wish I could have seen it live and in person. I followed for about 400 yards until I lost the tracks and never found a dead deer so figure it must have gotten away from the cat.

I have seen many a Muley's caught up in wire fences out west. Their hind legs get twisted in the top strands and suffer an agonizing death. What a waste. I had a muley doe last yr almost run into the side of my truck coming back into Pinedale,Wy. I hit the brakes, she jumped and ran full bore right into a wire fence. I would have thought that as hard as she hit, it would have broken her neck. She must have bounced back 15ft and got up and jumped up and over it. What a sight. The will to live in these animals is amazing.

Two years ago while hunting in Nebraska I saw a huge doe run head long into a fence, and break her neck. I was shocked that she hit with such force.
