7yr old scores a nice 8!!!

Was hunting with a buddy of mine here in NC this past weekend. In the county they live in, they are allowed to run dogs. John, the boy in the picture, was hunting with trusty .410 with #3 Buckshot and his Paw Paw Alan when this beastie came out. Alan told him to shoot 3 times and finally thought he was too scared to shoot. They both fired almost simultaneously. The buck reared up and then collapsed. We gave John a hard time about that being his Paw Paw's deer. He was very strong in his words that this was the deer HE SHOT! When dressing the deer and caping it out...we discovered 4 of the 5 buckshot in the shell hit the deer in the shoulder and neck. It truly was John's deer. His other Grandfather is a taxidermist and will be mounting it for him.

I was unsuccessful in my endeavors hunting with John's dad but seeing this young man's face after getting his first buck made the weekend and this whole hunting season a success!

It certainly does bowman. Those smiles are the greatest. I can't wait a few more yrs for my son to be able to harvest his first one. Horns or no horns, this old man will be teary eyed and proud as he--..

The best part is that boy will never forget the day, never!!!!
I still remember my first deer, it was 26 years ago and I can tell the story in detail like it was this year!!!
