2009_WY_hunt - Tuesday, October 27, 2009 7:23 PM ( #1 )
My son Jim and I just returned home from our Wyoming hunt...Jim bagged his first antelope, a nice heavy horned 12".....Luck was with us and I too got lucky on a nice 13" pronghorn...We traveled over the Bighorn Mountains in search of the wiley mule deer and the wiley Topgun.....We saw several mule deer and even some nice bull elk....But the Topgun sightings were empty......I did however manage to bag a nice mulie and Jim passed on quite a few smaller ones....I think that Topgun has all the biggest ones tied up out there ...Find Topgun and you will find the big mulies......

I should have more pictures of the lopes when I get them from my son...

Later,
Randy

thanks guys....this is only my second mulie and I am really happy with him...
Deadeye, he was only about 22" wide...But certainly more impressive than most of our WI and MN bucks....He is going on a plaque in my den weather my wife likes it or not...(BTW my den is in the garage)

Car, this is a unit "M" buck from the bighorn basin...slight snow skifts each night...50 degree days

Here is another shot of him...

Good luck to everybody as we approach more hunting seasons,
Randy

Congrats Randy. I think that's a heck of a nice buck. I'm jealous. Good luck the rest of the year.

I've been to the Big Horns several times just not hunting. That is a nice buck. and you should be proud of him. See any bears while you were out there?

No bears or bear sign...but a ton of elk...I saw over 50 in four days of hunting on the bighorn side....Some nice bulls too...We watched a 5x5 and 6x6 do a little sparring and the two split up and the 6x6 came closer to us, laid down and went to sleep....

Everybody have good safe hunts out there...we are gearing up for our MN opener this coming saturday....

Good luck,
Randy

Sorry I missed you Randy.  We were up high west of where we normally hunt for five days chasing antelope and didn't even get down to our regular area for deer until about the day you headed for home.  I got a real nice antelope buck that is at the taxidermist in Cody (see photo), but didn't get a crack at either of the two nice mulies I would have shot if given a little more time.  We also shot a lot of pheasants over my pointer the week before in ND and I will put a photo up of a tailgate full of cackle birds in a post following this one.
