2009 Moose Hunt

Argueably the most coveted Moose tag in the state! there were 2 and I got one! Deseret Land and Livestock 2009 Moose(once in a life time in Utah) Shiras Moose!
P.S. I have been putting for Moose tags here for the last 15 years. Had 14 points towards this one.
I'll defenatly post pictures of the hunt. I'm trying to get someone to film it but not being too sucessfull right now. They charge a $120.00 per day nohunting guest fee. for the food and AAA lodging on the ranch.

Congratulations! It sounds like you are as lucky as my one buddy. The first time he put in for a once in a lifetime hunt where only one license is issued in southern Idaho he drew the tag. I went with him (September of 2007) and he got a beautiful Shiras!!! I hope you do too!

Had to pass on an invite for a Ontario Bow Moose hunt yesterday for the same time as I will be in Maine bear hunting. Man that was a hard decision to make. Price was outstanding. One of the guys I know from Wi had a one guy in his party back out, so he had an opening. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, bad timing.

Tuesday Night (09/08/2009) at about 08:04 I found my Bull in the sights of my Shepherd scopeand had ranged him at 274 yards. Placing the 300 yard cross hairs in the middle, top to bottom, just behind that black front shoulder. Did a slow controlled press of the trigger on the .375 Ruger capped with a 270 Grain Barnes X. He fell in the pond he was sstanding in and was "DRT". He had 12 X 15 points, is 46 & 2/8 wide, and scored 170 & 4/8 inches (Unofficial, green gross score). For Utah it is truely a trophy bull! The Ranch Manager, of the ranch I was on, stated that he had never seen one that big taken on the ranch(almost 300,000 acres of open land). Talk about permagrinn!!!!

Awesome job, that truly is a trohy. Nothing like success on a lifetime hunt!!!!
